Morning News of Northwest Arkansas, 20 Nov 2003
CLEARLAKE, Calif. -- Velma Katheryn "Kate" Moren Nivens, 89, of Clearlake die 
Nov. 13, 2003, at Redbud Hospital in Clearlake.  She was born June 7, 1914, in 
Alabam to James and Alma King Moren.  She was a homemaker andenjoyed sewing 
and traveling.  She was a member of the Church of Christ in Clearlake.  She 
was preceded in death by her husband, Clea Nivens, in May 1990.

Survivors include one son, James and wife Ann of Fairfax, Calif.; five 
sisters, Ardath Samuel of Springdale, Marie Haas of Roseburg, Ore., Dorothea 
Diel of Montrose, Colo., Lea Birk of Springdale and Wilma Samuel of Elkins; 
two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Larry 
Branum officiating.  Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  The family 
will be present.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth King, George Birk, Michael Nivens, Steve Mabry, 
Elmo Samuel and John Rogers.
