	Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 12, at 
Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery in 
Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral 
Home of Van Buren, Arkansas.
	He is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; one son, Steve

AR, and Garrie Massengale of Searcy, AR; three daughters, Wanda Cozort

	Gussie M. Crow, a resident of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, was born 
on October 8, 1907, in Harvey, Arkansas, a daughter of John Knox and 
Nola (Kelley) Monroe. She departed this life on Wednesday, June 16, 
1999, in her home at the age of 91.
	Gussie was a member of the Methodist Church in Eureka Springs. 
She owned and operated the Ford Dealership and Garage in Eureka Springs 
for several years.
	She is survived by five nieces, Helene Taylor of Omaha, Texas, 
Lorraine Bates of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Marie Wing of Waldron, Arkansas, 
Lillie Arnett of Waldron, Arkansas, and Margaret Parker of Georgia; and 
many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Ehrle Crow, her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
	Graveside funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 
19, 1999 at the Eureka Springs Cemetery with Rev. Leslee Phillips 
officiating. Interment followed in Eureka Springs Cemetery under the 
direction of Nelson Funeral Service.

husband, Clarence Rhodes on March 8, 1976 and one son, Clarence Kindell 
Rhodes on December 27, 1989.
	She is survived by two daughters, Nell Sides of Parks, Arkansas and 
Patsy Rhodes of Belleville, Wisconsin; three grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
	Funeral service for Mrs. Rhodes will be held at 2:00 p.m. on 
Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with 
Elder Raymond Leard officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen 
Cemetery.

	Mildred Jane Nichols, 84, of Waldron, AR died on August 28, 1999 
in a Waldron Nursing home. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She was 
the widow of Charlie Nichols.
	Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 
1999, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hawkins Cemetery in 
Parks, Arkansas under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Creekmore of Abbott, AR; 
three sons, Tommy Nichols and Thurman Nichols of McAlister, OK and 
Sherman Nichols of Muldrow, OK; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois 
and Ivan Plummer of Waldron; 13 grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry DeWitt, Donnie Plummer, Mac Lee,

	Funeral services for Nora Frances Wagner, 91, of Andrews, Texas, 
were held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 1999 at McNett Funeral 
Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Robert Burns, Pastor of Maranatha 
Assembly of God Church in Andrews officiating and Rev. Donnie Wagner 
of Waldron, Arkansas, assisting. Burial was in Andrews West Cemetery 
under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
	She died Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at Permian General Hospital in 
Andrews, Texas. She was born on August 6, 1908 in Waldron, Arkansas. 
She married Carel Wagner on November 1, 1931 in Waldron, Arkansas. 
They moved to Seminole in 1952. She was a member of the First Assembly 
of God Church in Seminole. They moved to Andrews in 1989 from Seminole. 
She was a homemaker.
	She is survived by her husband Carel Wagner of Andrews; one son, 
Buffard Wagner of Andrews; one daughter, Clara Franklin of Dallas; one 
sister, Josie Walker of Waldron, Arkansas; one half-sister, Thelma 
Phillips of Parks, AR; 3 half-brothers, Waymon, Milton and Melvin 
Sparks, all of Waldron, AR; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 
3 step great-grandchildren.

	Mildred Ava Chiles, 95, of Waldron, Arkansas died on August 30 
in a Waldron nursing home. She was a retired school teacher for Waldron 
Public Schools with 42 years of service. She was a piano teacher for 50 
years, a member of Waldron First Baptist Church where she played the 
piano and was a Sunday School teacher for several years. She was a 
member of Scott County Retired Teacher Association and AARP.
	Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, at 
Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pilot Prairie Cemetery near 
Waldron, AR, under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	Whe is survived by one sister, Marie Chiles of Waldron; several 
cousins including Kenneth Bynum of Waldron, Kello Holland of Waldron, 
Jerry Townsend of Okeechobee, FL, Scott Beasley of Nacogdoches, TX, 
Jimmy Beasley of Denver, CO and Ruth Ellen Manning of Dallas, TX.

	Bessie Hale, 94, of Waldron, AR died on Monday, August 30, 1999 
in a Waldron nursing home. She was the widow of Ed Hale, a homemaker 
and a former Sunday School teacher at Mt. Moriah Church for several 
years.
	Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 1, at Tatetown 
Church with burial at Union Hill Cemetery near Waldron, AR under the 
direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	She is survived by five daughters, Lila Rook James of Blue Ball, 
AR, Mary Ann Hewes of Siloam Springs, AR, Edna Mae Ingram of Harrison, 
AR, Imogene Mitchell of Waltreak, AR; five sons, Jakie Roe Hale of 
Booneville, AR, Don Hale, Wendell Hale, Wayne Hale and Charles Hale 
all of Haletown, AR; three sisters, Juanita Holland of Waldron, AR, 
Wanda Wade of Fort Smith, AR, and Syble Hummel of Tulsa, OK; one brother, 
Gladen Wade of Greenwood, AR; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren

ROBERT FULTON PATTERSON
	Robert Fulton Patterson was born July 29, 1907 in Winfield, 
Arkansas and departed this life September 9, 1999 in Poteau, Oklahoma 
at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 10 days. His father was Dr. Lindsey 
Oliver Patterson, his mother was Molly Elvira Patterson. His grandfather 
was Lindsey Oliver Patterson, a circuit Baptist preacher who helped 
establish several Baptist Churches in Western AR and Eastern OK before 
and after statehood.
	His grandmother was Mary Jane Baines who bought and sold livestock, 
had the crops planted and generally provided a living for the family. 
His grandparents died about 6 months apart and are buried in the Seahorn 
cemetery near Waldron.
	Robert was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Eula 
Crutchfield, Ila (Dixie) Spencer, Grace McKinney, Fern Wilson and two 
brothers, Dewey and Floyd Patterson.
	Robert graduated from Heavener High School in 1929, and attended 
Southwestern State Teachers college in Durant. He taught school for 14 
years in various schools in Southeast Oklahoma. He was working as a 
social worker for the Department of Public Welfare when he was drafted 
for service in March of 1942.
	He married Juanita H. Teeter on July 6, 1942 in Abilene, TX. He 
was injured in the Battle of the Bulge in January of 1945, and was 
given a discharge in July of that year. He was awarded the Purple Heart 
& Bronze Star. After his discharge, he taught 30 months in the Poteau 
School system, he resigned because of bad health. He was a devout 
Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, also a 
life time member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. organization.
	He was a former resident of Norman, OK, and had been a resident 
of Poteau since 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in 
Poteau, a member of Heavener Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the 
D.A.V. He was also a Veteran of W.W. II, a retired school teacher and 
was a disabled veteran. He is survived by his wife, Juanita and several 
nieces and nephews.
	Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 at 
First Baptist Church in Heavener, OK, with burial at Heavener Memorial 
Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.

1999 in a Waldron nursing home. He was a retired logger and a Baptist.

Cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.
	He is survived by his wife Edna Angel of the home; six daughters:

County Senior Citizen Center for over 20 years. She was preceded in 
death by her husbands: Bill Riddle and Carl Craig.

September 22 at Waldron First Baptist Church with burial at Shiloh 
Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas under the direction of Martin Funeral 
Home of Waldron.

Sabrina Traylor of Hartford, AR; one step-daughter, Kay Lemarr of

Association. He was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Ashford.

	William Herman Highfill, 89, of Poteau, Oklahoma died on Tuesday,
September 21, 1999 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First 
Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma. He was a long time resident of 
Poteau and a retired Minister of the Baptist faith. He was preceded 
in death by his parents, William E. and Barbara Highfill and two 
brothers, Claude and Bruce Highfill.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24 
at First Baptist in Heavener, OK with burial at Hill Cemetery in 
Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
	He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Highfill of the home;

Dallas, TX, Dr. Marilyn Joyce and James Porter of Crowley, TX and
