Was taken prisoner Oct 25 1864 at the battle of Pea Ridge
Benton County in the State of Arkansas., Company was in
action at that date and place. It is my back and nerves;
it was caused by cold which i received when a prisoner.
I was stript of my clothing and traveled through the snow
until my feet was bleading.
He claims Pension on account of being unable to earn a 
living by daily labor.
I was in the hospital at New Orleans a few days as i cam 
back when i was charged.
He resided in Scott County, Arkansas since leaving service.
Occupation: Farmer

sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid claim, as follows
there is no Public or Church Records of the childrens births
and no attending physician present at these births; there
was no Public or Church Records excisted in my family record
of the births of my children.

the County and State aforesaid I Mary J. Boles, Scott Co.
Arkansas age 47 years, person of lawful age, who being duly
sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid claim as follows:
that i Mary J. Calvert was present when Bertrum W. Reed was
borned January 13 1885. I was also present when John P. Reed
was borned. I was also the midwife when he John P. Reed was
borned January 18th 1888. I Mary J. Calvert was the midwife
when Daisy P. Reed was borned July 18th 1890.

On this the 26th day of Sept 1899 came before me W.R. Hawkins J.P.
the claimant and the midwife Mary J. Calvert for the purpose
of fixing the exact day of the month of the childrens births.

Soldier.
Personally came before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for
the County and State aforesaid, B. Ford of Chester Crawford Co.
Ark., and Mark L. Reed of Armada, Crawford Co, Ark., persons of
of lawful age, who being duly sworn, declare in relation to the
aforesaid claim, as follows: I, B. Ford am 57 years old my post
office address is Chester? Crawford Co, Ark. I, M.L. Reed am 51
years old my post office address is Armada? Crawford Co, Arkansas.
We was personally and intimately aquainted with Mary Elizabeth
Pollard and Joesph Polk Reed to there marriage to each other on
the 10th day of December 1865, at which time we was present and
as personal acquaintances, we know that neither had been married
to anyone else.
We know from long intimate acquaintance with Mary E. Reed and
Joseph P. Reed that they both lived together as man and wife unto
the time of his death, and that she never was divorced and had
any such thing occured we believe we would have known or have
heard of it. We have no knowledge of her ever being married. 

Note: In Isaac G. Pollards, (brother of Mary E. Pollard) Obit, it
states that he is survived by a sister Mary E. Reed, Sasakwa, OK.
