Summery of Pension Paper for THOMAS GLISSON

War of 1812, widows application 40062 Lavinia Blackstock Glisson, 
Jun 1880, Scott Co. Arkansas

Thomas was in Captain William Whitsett's Company of Kentucky Militia 
From 17 Aug to 16 Nov. 1813. He enlisted at Russellville, Kentucky. He 
was 5ft 10 in. tall, had blue eyes, light hair and fair complexion.

He was born 10 Feb 1795 and was raised in Logan Co. Kentucky. He married 
Sarah Reynolds and then Lavinia Blackstock on 20 March 1835 in Wilson Co. 
Tenn. They left Wilson Co. in the fall of 1835, and came to Arkansas. By 
1839 they were settled in Scott Co. about 1 mile from the Sebastian Co. 
line. (This has to mean as the Counties were in 1880 when the papers were 
filed.)

Their Children were: Melissy born 9 Jun 1839; Ameratta born 9 Sep 1842; 
Commodore Perry born 17 Jun 1846; Adolpphus Burton  born 15 Oct 1848; 
Finis Caloway born 3 April 1851; Ethaline born 6 July 1853; Jesse Tilford 
born 23 Oct 1855; Henry Elby born 15 Aug 1858; Harvey Henderson born 
4 Jan 1861.

Thomas Glisson died 23 Nov 1863 and Lavinia died 16 Apr 1887 in Boone 
Co. Ark.

Affidavit of J.A. Flinn: My mother lived within about a mile from where 
Mrs. Glisson died, she died at my brother's house, W.C. Flinn. She and 
her son, Harvey Glisson, lived together, Harvey was a single man about 
twenty five. They only owned a team and a wagon. As soon as his mother 
died, Harvey sold the team and wagon. I sold him the burial outfit and 
Harvey paid the bill. Before he moved on, Harvey placed $12.00 in my 
hand to purchase a tombstone for his mother, the following was to be 
inscribed on the stone, "Lavinia Glisson   Born Feb 17, 1816  Died April 
16, 1887".
