Sims, Nettie was actually the daughter of William Jordan Sims and Mary
Bell Biggs Sims, born July 9, 1900, and died in 1909.

I noticed you also listed the Mankin family. My Aunt Mattie (Sims)
married Ellis Mankin, the son of Preacher Mankin on March 14, 1920,
and he died on Oct. 9, 1920 after he was killed by a person stealing
his team of horses with a wagon.

Two names that I know of that are missing are part of the Sims family.
I have also visited there, as my grandfather is a Sims buried there
with a broken headstone. He is right beside Nettie Sims. His name was
Floyd General Sims, born Aug. 4, 1893, and died Feb. 11,1925. His
first wife is also buried beside him with no marker. Her name was Willa
May Sims, born Aug. 25, 1898, and died March 20, 1918.

You also mentioned that one of the headstones might be Aria Sims. Aria
Sims died May 31, 1895.

My maiden name is Sims, and I have visited the Buffalo Cemetery, and
have recently started working again on the family history. The Biggs
family is also part of my family, as my great-grandmother was a Biggs.
The same goes with the Smith family. When great-grandmother Biggs
married a Sims, then a Smith after the death of her husband.

I was amazed at how many of the family group are buried there. Mary B.
Biggs Sims Smith is buried in Iowa Park, Texas, and she died on
November 10, 1944. She was born December 12, 1875. I have a copy of a
little book that had a lot of the Sims families as well as the Biggs
families listed. My cousin has the original, as her grandmother had the
book. Her grandmother was Mattie Louis Sims Mankin, born on Sept. 14,
1897, and she died on May 6, 1981. She is also buried in Iowa Park,
Texas.

Hi Renee,

I also changed Lvola Cates to Lydia. That's my husband's great-
grandmother. I have an approximate birth date for W.F. (William
Franklin) Cates (1829) and the death date (30 Sep 1896), but didn't add
it, since it isn't on his tombstone.

Below are additional people buried in Buffalo Cemetery without
headstones or missing headstones.

Cox, Mary "Catherine" (McVey) born Sept 1877 died Feb 1919 Unmarked
grave next to Harmon Hawkins: info from daughter.

Cox, Robert Lee born April 1878 died February 1919 Unmarked grave next
to Harmon Hawkins; info from daughter.

Rice, Dicie (Cates) born 25 April 1877 died 20 October 1952 Unmarked
grave; death certificate; her grave just S of James Trafton Rice grave.

Rice, James Trafton born 3 January 1861 died 11 January 1945 Unmarked

I have two unmarked ones buried in Buffalo Cemetery.

William Caroll Ward b. June 24, 1841 d. Feb 25, 1920

Emmett Cates b. Aug 29, 1890 d. 1891 of pneumonia. The last time our
grandmother was there she found the little rock where William Robert
Joseph Iley Cates had carved his name. She stood the rock by his
father's grave, William Robert Joseph Iley Cates.
