Turn right on Elizabeth Street. Go .8 mile to end of road. Cemetery is located through gate at this point. This cemetery is the older cemetery for the town of Dover and has many of the early residents of the town buried here. It on the shore of an oxbow lake formed from the original path of the Illinois Bayou. This is where it gets the name. There are many unmarked graves in this cemetery. Ella C. Stout 1806 06 Dec 1865 He was born in Knox County, Tennessee He was shot at his home south of Dover, AR by an assassin son of Abraham Stout and Sarah husband of Anne Parker married 26 Jul 1826 Blount Co. Alabama children: James M., John W., Elizabeth, Delano B., Milly N. LAWSON, Matilda J., Mary L. LEE Co. B, Gray’s Bn. AR Vol. Mexican War. He was appointed County Clerk by Gov. Murphy in 1861 He was a Methodist minister. His death was a result of the Pope Co. Militia War He was originally buried on his home place south of Dover west of Linker Creek in the Stout Family Cemetery. In the 1990s a great-grandson removed his stone from there because he was afraid it would be lost. He then placed it in this cemetery. Both he and his wife were buried on their home place. Site now is unknown. At one time Mr. Stout owned the property where McFadden Cemetery south of Dover is located. At his death it was sold to John McFadden, who later donated the land for the cemetery.
