James Edward Kiefer  

  Mr. James Edward Kiefer, 70, of Newport, Arkansas died in his
home,Thursday, September 23, 2004 in Newport. He was born October 7, 
1933 in Clover Bend, Arkansas the son of John and Lillie (Weaver) Kiefer.
  Mr. Kiefer was a retired owner and operator of a timber business and 
was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ, Newport Akansas.
  Mr. Kiefer is survived by one son, Billy Kiefer of Calico Rock, 
Arkansas; three daughters, Kathy Jones of Batesville, Arkansas, Tammy 
Calhoun of Lafe, Arkansas, and Georgia Howard of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 
eight grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Stien of Machesney Park, Illinois:
three brothers, Thomas Kiefer of Portland, Tennessee, John Kiefer of
Clarendon, Arkansas and Paul Kiefer of Rockford, Illinois and his best
friend, Ramona Pratt of Bradford, Arkansas.
  He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Bayles) Kiefer; two brothers, 
Robert and Joe Kiefer; and one nephew, Donald Freeman.
  Graveside service were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Coffeyville Cemetery
with Bro. Don Robinson officiating.
