We found some new markers, but also several severely degraded markers as well. Also gravesites that were on the original 1998 inventory that have since that time lost the field stone marking them rendering them 'lost'. Recently updated – Memorial Day, May 28, 2000. I found a couple of graves that have been lost due to degrading of the funeral home marker & one grave lost due to the fact that the field stones marking the grave have been removed, possibly due to a recent funeral or stone placement at a site next to this site. Either way in the case of this grave there is no indication now that a grave was there 2 years ago when I did the 1998 inventory, except for the records in this inventory. - Terrye Union Grove Cemetery is located between Floral & Pleasant Plains, Arkansas in Fairview Township, Independence County. The rows of this inventory are as close to accurate as I can possibly make them. There are several areas where a grave was slightly out of line, & then more graves were added in line with it. Or maybe the black gum tree in the middle of the cemetery caused a grave to be dug out of line, etc. The rows are done moving from right to left as you walk in the large, middle gate beginning on the end. I've numbered the stones to make it easier to locate a burial record using the alphabetical index at the end of this record. I would like to thank my husband, Donald Wayne Lambert & 10 year old daughter, Susan Evelyn for the assistance they provided on Memorial Day, 1998 with the recording of the gravesites. I know it's not always easy to put up with Mom's crazy impulses, but trust me it'll help someone somewhere.
