Mrs. Green
  Mrs. Vercy Ethyl Green, 86, of Newport, a former Beedeville, resident,
died Tuesday in Newport.  A homemaker and a member of the Baptist 
Church, she was the widow of James Arhtur Green, who died in 1955.
  Surviving are two sons, Robert Green of Jonesboro and Earl Green of
McCrory, five daughters, Mary Alice Bagwell, Emmer M Gaddis and Norma
Fortune, all of Beedeville, Jewell Woolridge of Bono and Lula Mae 
Sanders of Dolph, one sister, Edith Fortune of Mountain View, 23 
grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10 in Jackson's
Newport Funeral Home, with rev. E E Bone of Newark officiating.  A
graveside service will follow at 2 this afternoon at the Elizabeth
Cemetery near Viola in Fulton County.
