Z.J. Blackburn (-1885), Benton Co., AR

BENTON COUNTY DEMOCRAT
Bentonville, Ark., Saturday, January 21, 1888

From War Eagle Mills,

Died-at his home, Friday, Jan. 13th 1888, Z.J. Blackburn, aged about
thirty five years. Mr. Blackburn was well known in Benton County, where
he has lived all his life, and his sudden demise will cause general
surprise and sorrow among his large number of friends. His illness was
of short duration, being taken just six days before his death, but
pleural-pneumionia is no respecter of persons, and the strong man fell
into dreamless sleep at the very meridian of his days. His funeral took
place on Saturday, being conducted by the Masonic order, of which he
was an honored member, and who with many friends followed the remains
to their everlasting home.
There has been considerable sickness hereabout of late, pneumonia brings
the general complaint. This the uncertain weather has favored.
The Democrat reaches us with clock-work regularity. May it and its
principles
of genuine democracy stand 'till time shall end. S.W.B.

(Z. J. Blackburn was actually forty two at the time of his death. The
intials
S.W.B. stand for Slyvanus Walker Blackburn his father.)
