     J. T. SATTERWHITE BURIED AT MOUNT PISGAH SUNDAY OCT. 17TH.
Passes At Home Of Son In Meridian, Miss., After Two Weeks Illness.

Elder J. T. SATTERWHITE, age 81 years, for a long period of years
active and identified with civic and religious interests of
Chambers County, died at the home of a son, MITCHELL SATTERWHITE,
Meridian, Mississippi, last Friday following an illness of about 15
     days.

Funeral services for the lamented former Chambers County Baptist
minister was held from the Mount Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church
last Sunday at 2:30 P.M., the church of which he was pastor for
(over) 41 years. The body was met at Opelika last Sunday morning by
a LaFayette undertaker and transferring to the Mount Pisgah Church,
a son and grandson accompanying the body to it's final resting
     place.

Attending the funeral was a large concourse of friends who had
known and labored with their former pastor. A very large number of
those attending the funeral rites had been baptized and married by
     him.

In addition to being pastor of the Mount Pisgah Church for 41
years, Elder SATTERWHITE was pastor of several other churches in
Chambers County and West Georgia during his active ministry. He
moved to Meridian in September, 1936, a short time following the
death of his wife, to make his home with a son. He had been in ill
health much of this time. He had made his home in LaFayette for a
number of years prior to that time.

Taking part in the funeral services were several ministers of
     neighboring churches, including Elders (J. W.) HARMON, (L. M.)
PARRISH, and (H. R.) AVERY. Four members of the Mount Pisgah Church
who had known the former minister during his 41 year pastorate also
spoke feelingly of their departed friend.

Surviving are two sons: J. LEM SATTERWHITE, Bradenton, FL; and
     MITCHELL SATTERWHITE, Meridian, MS.
