Beloved Resident Is Called By Death Here on Wednesday
February 22, 1935

Mrs. Henry Smith Succumbs To Long Illness

With deepest regret we announce the death of Mrs. Myrtle Smith, wife of former
County Superintendent Henry G. Smith, who passed away at 10:45 o'clock
Wednesday morning at the family home on East Twelfth Street.

Mrs. Smith, one of Titus County's finest and most beloved women, had been in
poor health for many weeks and though her death was not unexpected it cast a
gloom of sadness over the hearts of the many friends who knew and lover her.

Born in the Chapel Hill community of Titus County, Mrs. Smith spent
practically all of her life there. She was married to Mr. Smith on October 12,
1902, and to them were born one daughter and one son. They are Mrs. J. C.
Cross of Kingsville, Texas, and Dean Smith of Mt. Pleasant. She was a devout
member of the Baptist Church for many years.

Other surviving relatives include her father, J. A. Smith, of Pittsburg; four
brothers, Clyde Smith of Cason; Elbert Smith of Winnsboro; Claude Smith of
Graham; and Clarence Smith of Mt. Pleasant; and four sisters, Mrs. T. H.
McClintock of this city; Mrs. W. C. Driggers of Grapevine; Mrs. Jess Crocker
of Kerens and Mrs. Hoyt McNeil of Pittsburg.

Funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant at 3:00
o'clock Thursday afternoon under the direction of Rev. J. D. McClung, Rev. J.
E. Lamb and Rev. W. D. Hollingsworth. Following the services the body will be
laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery.
