MARTINSBURG MATTERS.

Hon. George W. Smith, formerly a resident of Williamsburg, this
county - but since 1856 a resident of Tipton, Iowa - died at his
residence yesterday, his son, Rev. M. L. Smith, of this place, having
received a despatch to that effect this afternoon. Mr. Smith will be
well remembered by our older citizens, he having represented this
county in the Legislature in the winters of 1853 and 1854. At the time
of his death he was in the 80th year of his age.
