John David ÒJ.DÓ Smith, 73, of Slidell, Louisiana, died peacefully on July 1, 2015, surrounded by the love of his dear family.

Born February 1, 1942, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, 
J.D. was preceded in death by his father, William Sam Smith, and his mother, Ella Lee Harwell Smith. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Stevens Smith, his daughter Stacy Smith Zechenelly, son-in-law Samuel Zechenelly, and his grandson Cole Zechenelly. 

As a biology teacher at Salmen High School for 33 years, as Key Club Sponsor, and as a realtor at Latter and Blum, J.D. Smith will be remembered by the myriad of people, young and old, whose lives he touched.

Funeral will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,
1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA
on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 9:00am.

Burial will be in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
