"MR. I. P. SMITH DIES AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
On Monday morning September 4, at eight thirty o'clock, Mr. I. P.
Smith died at his home, Rockford, Rt. 2, after a lengthy illness. Mr.
Smith was born in January, 1862 in the Flint Hill Community, Coosa
county, later moving to this present home Rockford, Rt. 2, where he
reared a family of eight children.
He is survived by his widow and seven children, Ellis Smith, Gantts Quarry;

Albert Smith, Dewey Smith, Hattie Smith, Jewel Smith, of
Rockford Rt. 2, and Huey Smith, of Rockford; one sister, Mrs. W. H.
Thomas, Rockford, Rt. 1; one brother, J. M. Smith, Rockford, Rt. 2; and
five grandchildren.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Hanover. Mr.
Smith was a man who had the utmost respect of his neighbors and
friends. It was said by Mr. Pinson, at the funeral, that, for several
years he had known Mr. Smith, and he had never heard any person say
anything that was not a credit to him.
Funeral services were held at Andrew's Chapel Church, 2:00 o'clock,
Tuesday, with internment in the church cemetery, the Reverend C. D.
Dobbs in charge, Dr. J. G. Pinson assisting." (1)

22 Mar 1867 in Coosa Co., AL & d. 27 May 1950 in Coosa Co., AL) on 12
Jan 1888 in Coosa Co., AL. They are both buried in Andrew's Chapel,
United Methodist Church, Cemetery, Coosa Co., AL.
