The correct name for this burial ground is unknown
at this time. The site was brought to my attention by Nancy Garsteck, who
did not know the name of the burial ground, but said the surrounding area had
been farmed, and this one small patch was set aside, and was rumored to have
been a burial ground. An internet search of genealogy sites revealed that
there was an original tombstone for Johan Michael Zundel, and the inscription
read: Her ruhet Johan Michael Zundel.
Er ward geboren den 25ten Julius 1757
und starden 14ten August 1844.
Sein ganzes Alter war 87 Yahren
und 19 tagen.
Selig sind die reis herzens sind,
denn sie werden Gott schauen.
Directions to site: From Route 119 South, take
Route 31 Exit. Turn left onto Route 31, and go into Mount Pleasant.
Route 31 turns into Main Street. After 2nd red light, go another 2 blocks,
and turn right onto South Quarry Street. Follow South Quarry down hill,
and past Bruce's Carpeting on the left. Just before the end of South
Quarry is a country road on the left. Turn left, and go to top of hill
about 300 yards. On the left, you will see the grove of trees in the
middle of an open field.
