mtolivetmp.jpg | Mt. Olivet Methodist Protestant Cemetery No trace of the church remains. The cemetery is very well manicured and backs up on the yard of a private home. At least one grave had recently-placed flowers on it. I identified the denomination (The Methodist Protestant Church was founded on 2 November, 1830, at Baltimore by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church who had been expelled or had freely withdrawn from that body ) from the following Cecil Whig (Elkton, Cecil Co., MD) obituary: Sat., 2/26/1887 “Death at 99” Mrs. Amelia Fulton of Chrome, E. Nottingham Twp., Chester Co., PA, died last Wednesday night in the 99th year of her age. She was the oldest inhabitant of this region. Mrs. Fulton, who was called "Aunty Fulton" by young and old where she resided, was born near Rising Sun, Cecil County, MD, 3/22/1788. Her parents were John & Rachel Coulson. The deceased married twice, Levi Charles being her first husband and Thomas Fulton the last. She had no children of her own, but she adopted a number and cared for them until they attained their majority…She was the oldest member of Mt. Olivet M. P. Church…Interment was in West Nottingham Friends Burying Ground, Cecil Co. |
