Section 3000 click on map for enlarged view SECTION 3000 This area was previously known as the OLD CHURCH CEMETERY, and was the first burial area officially associated with the church. It generally consists of four burial areas, as follows: Main Lots: This area was surveyed about 1871, and consists of 154 lots numbered 3001 through 3157, each about 16' by 6' to 7' (the older standard size), each having 5 gravesites. Numbers 3001 through 3151 are logically laid out, although not totally in line. The location of lots 3152 and 3153 is presently unknown, and probably have no burials. They are supposed to be just "below the water closet". Lots 3154 through 3157 are to the left of the other lots, by themselves, with the last two numbers out of sequence. Within each lot the individual sites are numbered left to right (south to north). Old Single Lots: This Section was laid out about 1910, to be sold as single gravesites instead of lots consisting of 5 sites, as all the other sales were at the time. In shape, it is roughly a right triangle, bordering the Main Lots. There are 20 lots, ie, rows, each containing a variable number of individual sites depending on the space available. Some lots are "LS", meaning full length of large (adult) single burials, and some are "SS" for small (child) single burials. The adult sites are about 6' by 3', and the child sites are about 3' by 3'. The lots are numbered west to east, with sites within them numbered south to north, and are laid out as follows: Adult rows are 3160. 3162 to 3164, 3167, 3168, and 3174 to 3179. The child lots are 3161, 3165, 3166, 3169 to 3172, and 3183. Beattv Lots: This area is in the eastern part of Section 3000, and because of peculiarities of the land donations to the Cemetery, is essentially reserved for the use of the Beatty descendents. The only currently usable area is in the northern part of this area. Lots consist of long rows numbered west to east as 3181 to 3185. Sites in each lot are numbered left to right (south to north). New Beattv Lots: This area was surveyed in 1987, and is designated for the descendents of Thomas Beatty. It encompass the northern-most portion of the Beatty Lots. These lots are numbered west to east, but in a different way from the rest of the cemetery, each gravesite having a separate lot number. The lots in each row are numbered north to south (right to left), unlike the rest of the cemetery. The numbers are 3301 to 3309, 3401 to 3409, 3501 to 3509, and 3601 to 3609. Separate deeds have been issued to Beatty families for these lots, whereas the lots in the other Beatty area do not have individual lot deeds. |
