Below are photos from the Alexander R. Preston family collection. Alexander came to Oklahoma Indian Territory from Wisconsin where he was born. He, along with other investors formed the Fox River Oil and Gas Business. They purchased oil leases in what is now Washinton Co. Later he went to Okmulgee where he was among the first to take leases in the Morris Gas Field which produced several active wells. He moved his family to Okmulgee in 1908. He founded several companies in the Okmulgee area. The Fox River company was eventually sold to the Texas Company (Texaco). Alex and his son Harry, drilled and operated thier leases independently for several years around the Oklmuglee Aras. The town of Preston in Okmulgee County was was originally named Hamilton Switch then McKimberly, was officially changed to Preston December 13, 1909 when the post office was established there. It was named for Alexander's son Harry Preston.

The photos and source for the biography were submitted by Jim Preston, grandson of Alexander. Photos were sent to him by Jane Golden.
