Special Note about Land records in Oklahoma: Current Bryan County was in Indian Territory until 1907. Non Indians were not allowed to own land. They leased it from the Indians. Land Records before 1907 are available in the appropriate county. The two land runs in Oklahoma Territory, marked the beginning of land ownership for Non-Indians. For Land Records after 1907 write to the Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico State Office, Federal Building, Box 1449, Santa Fe, NM 87501. A Warrant/Patent number is needed before a LAND ENTRY CASE FILE can be ordered from the National Archives. Oklahoma is a Public Domain State.
