These tombstone photos have been generously donated by Tom Schleis on 10 July, 2004.
Schleis, Martin, Jan. 21, 1921 - Apr. 18, 1997 Martin (my uncle) entered the Marines World War II & sustained head injuries in South Pacific War, was listed as disabled. During Korean War, was denied reinlistment by the Marines but Army accepted him and got by his diabled status by giving him a new name; Morton Spears, and Soc. Security number where he served his full term of duty in Korean War. He retired as a postal worker in Cleveland Ohio. Upon his death, both the Marines and Army sent him a grave plaque as the Name they knew him by. |
Schleis, Lawrence, 1928 - 2001, U.S. Navy Korea Son of Martin & Maria Schleis, his parents are buried at Sunset Hills/Stark Co. Lawrence is buried beside his brother Martin Schleis. |
