.
I wish to present my readings for the memorial stones of ancestral loved ones buried at Lock Cemetery. This cemetery lies on gentle sloping land, slightly sloping lower towards east. It's located in the very extreme northwestern corner of Licking County, near the village of Lock and bordering Knox County. The cemetery grounds of several acres are well cared for and most stones are in very good condition. It is my best guess that this cemetery is maintained by Township Trustees of Bennington Twp. Area protected by a chain link fence w/ gravel drives through out cemetery. I found a few broken and toppled stones, but for the most part this cemetery is in excellent condition with little or no evidence of vandalization. Located on SR 657, just northwest of Drury Rd. (TR62) & southeast of the village of Lock. My first visit here was on 26th April, 2004, at which time I began photo documentation and transcription work. The following memorials are listed but since I'm still in preliminary phase, will not make any attempt to put them in correct rows or sequence until more research has been accomplished. This will probably be my only visit until next fall. My hopes are to complete the readings in Fall (2005). As always, I will make my best effort to read the stones correctly, but make no claim of being 100% accurate. In some cases these readings may be the only source of genealogical data, but when possible, don't forget to use state and county records when available. My effort as always is to provide information for the use of the descendants of these ancestral loved ones buried here. If you're able to find something here useful to further your family research, then I feel my effort has been justified. All data outside of brackets will be actual transcriptions and within brackets will be my personal observations and or in some case best guess but should be taken as unproved unless source mentioned that states otherwise.
