Fox, Louiza Catharine, dau. of John L. & Mary Fox, murdered by Thomas Carr, Jan. 21, 1869, age 13 yrs 1mo & 13 days Click here for close view. Thomas was about 2-3 years older than her, and wanted to marry her, but has a violent temper. Her parents and other friends kept her away from him. He decided that if he couldn't have her, no one else could either. Thomas Carr was eventually hung for her murder. Belmont residents erected this memorial in her honor.
Medkiff, Isaac, died Apr. 29, 1843, aged 63y's 18d Isaac Midkiff (note the variation of surname spelling on stone), b. April 11, 1780 PA, died April 29, 1843 Kirkwood Twp., Belmont Co. Isaac married Elizabeth Sheppard June 11, 1801 MD. Issac was the son of Curtis & Charity (Harris) Midkiff. Elizabeth was born in MD, June 27, 1783 to John & Mary Ann (Hudson) Sheppard. Isaac & Elizabeth were the parents of 9 children. Isaac served in the War of 1812, a musician in Daniel Conner's Company of Ohio Militia 1st Regt. in DeLong's command in 1814.
Midkiff, Abraham, died May 5, 1843, aged 32yrs 6mos 13ds Abraham, son of Isaac & Elizabeth (Sheppard) Midkiff, b. Oct. 20, 1811, married Elizabeth Nancy Murphy b. 1815, d. aft. 1850. The couple married April 11, 1832, Belmont Co. They had 7 known children.
Midkiff, Elizabeth, b. 1782 MD, d. Jan. 27, 1873 Kirkwood Twp., Belmont Co. She is the daughter of John & Mary Ann (Hudson) Sheppard. Her parents are buried at Sewellville ME Cem.
Sheppard, James, 1775 - 1843; Hannah, 1781 - 1839; Job, 1824 - 1844; Emanuel, 1827 - 1849 James was born march 1775, he married Hannah Gattschall b. Dec. 29 1781 MD. The couple married 1798, East Nottingham, Cecil Co., MD and were the parents of 14 known children. James was the son of John & Mary Ann (Hudson) Sheppard. James was one of 12 children. He fought in the War of 1812.
