Katie M. Heckman, 82

Katie  M. Heckman, 82, of White Bird, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at her home
in White Bird of causes related to age.
She  was  born  July 24, 1921, near Beljie, Germany, a daughter of Herman and
Anna  Alfe Suhr. She came to the United States with her family when she was 3
years  old,  landing  at  Ellis  Island then by way of Canada to the Highland
District  of the Camas Prairie. She married Don Heckman on June 20, 1940, and
they  moved  to  Joseph  Plains  and she became a hardworking rancher's wife.
They  moved  to  White  Bird  in 1956 and then to Emmett in 1969. Mr. Heckman
died in 1993 and she returned to White Bird in 1994.
