HILL, Violet Entered into eternal rest on the evening of May 15, 2001,Violet C. Hill, 
widow ofLawrence E. Hill, Sr. Residence, Hanahan, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to 
attend her funeral services in Portside Baptist Church, Saturday morning, May 19, 2001 at Eleven 
O'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., 
GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Friday evening, May 18, 2001 between six and eight o'clock. Mrs. 
Hill was born February 15, 1918 in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of HerbertChambliss and 
Irene Bergstrom Chambliss. She was a member of Portside Baptist Church. She retired as post 
mistress of Myers Branch Post Office in 1993 with thirty-two years of service. She is survived 
by five sons, Charles Hill of Goose Creek, SC, Jerry Hill of Lithonia, GA, James Hill of North 
Charleston, SC, Joe Hill of Palmetto, FL and Larry Hill of Atlantic Beach, FL; four daughters, 
Joyce Tanner of Channelview, TX, Alice Byrd of Lawrenceville, GA, Ellen Ellis of Goose Creek, 
SC and Norma Poston of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three brothers, Joe Chambliss and Herbert Chambliss 
both of Chula Vista, CA and Melvin Chambliss of Hanahan, SC; one sister, Helen Chambliss of 
Everett, WA; nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, 
donations may be made to Portside Baptist Church Anniversary Fund, 1179 Remount Road, North 
Charleston, SC 29406. (May 17, 2001)
