Crapse ESTILL - Elder Charles P. "Charlie" Crapse, 83, of Estill, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Hampton Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends in Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton, from 6 to 9 tonight and Thursday until 2 p.m. when the casket will be placed in Little Creek Primitive Church, Estill, for services at 3 p.m. Mr. Crapse was born May 9, 1918, in Hampton County, a son of Charles Manley and Henrietta Perry Crapse. He was a retired farmer and an elder at Little Creek and Prince Williams Primitive Baptist churches. He had been a shipfitter and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves at Pearl Harbor. Surviving are his wife, Louise Fanning Crapse of Estill; a stepson, Mockey Terry of Estill; a stepdaughter, Patsy T. Peeples of Early Branch; a brother, Moody Crapse of Irmo; a sister, Lenora Quattlebaum of Columbia; and five step-grandchildren. "Charlie" Crapse, 83, of 7235 Savannah Highway, died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. Elder Crapse was born in Hampton County, May 9, 1918, a son of the late Charles Manley and Henrietta Perry Crapse. He was a retired farmer and an elder with the Little Creek and Prince Williams Primitive Baptist Churches. He also had been a ship fitter and served in the Naval Reserves at Pearl Harbor. Surviving are, his wife, Louise Fanning Crapse of Estill; step-son, Mockey Terry of Estill; step-daughter, Patsy T. Peeples of Early Branch; brother, Moody Crapse of Irmo; sister, Lenora Quattlebaum of Columbia; special nephews, Ray Crapse, Jimmy Crapse and Mike Crapse, all of Estill; special niece, Pamela D. Depew of Beaufort; and step-grandchildren, Will and Herman Peeples of Early Branch, Mockey Terry, Jr., Karen Terry, and Brandon Terry of Estill. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Thursday, in the Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Ruper Nobles and Elder Robert Dobson, with burial in the church cemetery directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON. Friends may call at the chapel in Hampton from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, and Thursday until 2 p.m., when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.
