J. Bullard, of Outland, which occurred on the 25th inst.; we learn that he had been in declining health for some time. We regret to learn of this sad event, as he was a man of deep feelings and good meaning, his heart was ever open to lend a helping hand and especially to the poor and needy. His hospitable home was ever open to those that chanced to visit there. Once his confidence and friendship gained, he could be trusted as a true and faithful friend. We can but fail to express our deep and sincere regret in this sad event; we can but only say, Alas! a good man is gone. While it is the will of a merciful God to take him from our midst, we trust it is to his immortal and everlasting gain. We deeply and sincerely sympathize with his family and relatives in their sad bereavement. Mr Bullard was 68 years of age; he was born in Cumberland County, N.C. He came to his country several years ago; he resided near Outland, S.C. ever since we first knew him. He leaves a widow, Mrs E. J. Bullard, three sons and five daughters to mourn his sad loss. His sons are Messrs. G. G. Bullard, of Outland, J. W. Bullard,of Outland, and Joseph Bullard, who is still overseas; His daughters are Mrs. J.P. Cribb, of this section, Mrs. Joseph Lorrimore, of Smith's Mill, Mrs. D.J. Barnhill of Outland, Mrs. L. J. Haselden, of Outland, and Miss Rosa Bullard,also of Outland. His body was laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery on the 26th inst.,in the midst of a concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. The burial services were performed by the Masonic order, of which he was a member. Obituary Unknown newspaper -April 1919 The whole community was saddened by the death of Mr. J. J. Bullard of the Pleasant Hill section. He was a good citizen. He was buried at Pleasant Hill Saturday afternoon. The Masons conducting the service. One of the largest crowds ever seen in this community attended the funeral, attesting to the love and respect for this great man. *********************************************************************
