All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************************************** (From the McCrory Leader, Thursday July 20, 1961) PAUL BRONTE DIES UNEXPECTEDLY IN AMARILLO, TEXAS Paul Bronte, 53, prominent McCrory business man and civic leader, died of a heart attack early Tuesday morning while on a visit with relatives in Amarillo, Texas. He had been there since Thursday of last week. He operated the Bronte Insurance Agency and was a partner in the Angelo-Bronte Soybean Company. Born in McCrory, he graduated from McCrory High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the McCrory Methodist Church and was a former member of the Board of Stewards. He was a past president of the McCrory Business Men's Association and a member of the McCrory Industrial Development Corporation. An ardent supporter of the public schools, he served as secretary of the McCrory School Board for the past 10 years. Last December he was re-elected to a five-year term. He was president of the McCrory Circle U Trail Riders and was the guiding hand in presenting the annual horse shows in McCrory. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Hamilton Bronte; two daughters, Miss Diana Bronte, a Fulbright scholar in Murnau, Germany, and Miss Gloria Bronte of McCrory; and one sister, Mrs. Clayton White of South Pasadena, California. Funeral services willb e held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Chapel by Rev. Pharis Holifield, paster of the McCrory Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fakes Cemetery. The business houses of McCrory will be closed from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. for the funeral.
