Mrs. Ellen McCLATCHY died Wednesday the 18th at 6 a.m. at the home of her brother Mr. Sam GILBREATH, after months of the most painful suffering with that dreadful disease "cancer". She was born in 1837 and at the age of 12 years joined the M.C. church and lived an exemplary life as a true Christian lady, loved and respected by all who had the good fortune to make her acquaintance. The funeral was preached by Rev. Crozier of Dutch Mills, Thursday at 10 am. at the Union Cemetery at Cincinnati, before a large crowd of grieving relatives and friends. Bro. Crozier stated he had been personally acquainted with her for forty years and whenever had needed spiritual direction and gone to her for comfort, but what she had the right text ready to strengthen him. It would be well for us all to try to pattern after her lovely Christian example "My grace shall answer when they call' in trouble I'll be night. My power shall help them when they fail, And raise them when they die. One who loved her. McCLATCHY--Mrs. Ellen MacClatchy was born in Knox County Tennessee, May 21, 1837; died October 18, 1905, at her her brother's Sam GILBREATH, who lives near Cincinnati, Ark. She was converted when 12 years of age at Cumberland, Tenn. She was married to James McCLATCHY in 1857. They came to Washington County Arkansas, in 1860. She joined the Vineyard congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in which she lived a faithful Christian life. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, and her remains were laid to rest in the Cincinnati cemetery by the side of her husband who died October 26, 1903 J.K.P. Crozier, Pastor .
