He was born in Walker County, GA, April 16, 1857 and moved to Arkansas in 1881. He moved to Fort Mead, Florida, in 1930, where he died. He is the last member of the charter members of Mt. Olive Church. He leaves to morn his death six children, John Childress and Mrs. Mattie Akins of near Mt. Olive; Henry, a barber of Little Rock; Mrs. Susie Taylor and Lafayette Childress of Ft. Mead, Fla. and Delia, of Collegeville, TN.
