These two maps show a closeup of the
location of the ranch buildings, and the Stewart family
private burial plat. The private plat was a natural mausoleum, hewn out of the caliche behind what is today Bunker Brothers Mortuary, at 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. In the 1970s, the seven bodies buried here were reinterred to Eden Vale Cemetery, (1216 Las Vegas Blvd. No.) which today would be just above the ranch buildings in the right photo. After Mrs. Stewart sold the land which started Las Vegas to the railroads, she retained the property which contained the private burial plot. The location of these two photographs is at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd North and Washington Street in Las Vegas. (This map located at University of Nevada library, Historic Collections who gave permission to photograph this and the other pictures in these pages -gp) |
