Land Patent issued to John Brown
|
||
Here is copy of land patent issued to my 3rd GGF John Brown for service in the Black Hawk War. He was the oldest son. John's Father was also named John and his mother was Priscilla. The elder John died c. 1834. Probate in Ray Co. The 1840 Ray/Marion Township census shows Priscilla as head of household and her son, my 3rd GGF John living next door. The land patent was issued through Abraham Lincoln's office in 1862. The copy in in the Linn County, Kansas land or deed recorders office appears to be later. I believe the reference to MO militia service is in Ray Co. MO. (The Browns were associated with Winant Vanderpool through the Marion Baptist Church) Steve Brown, Chalfont, Pa. |
