I am looking to locate infomration about my grandmother, Wilma Lea
Williams and her family. It is believed she was born in or around Chillicothe,
MO., on March 19th, early 1900's to Winifred ? (Winnie) Williams. I do
not have her fathers first name. Siblings were: Corene Williams (married
Hensley) and Bunk Owens Nelson John Henry Johanna Pete Williams (that is
all one name) and a step/half brother, Richard Levaugh.
I was told that Wilma's father ran a river mill near Chillicothe,
and died when she was in her late teens.
My grandmother married William Jay Besack, Jr., and lived most of
her life in Lyon county, KS. Any information provided would be greatly
appreicated. It is a shame we know so little about a woman we loved so
very much. Many thanks.

The MAJORS farm is located on the grounds of Watkin's Mill State Park. The house built by my ggranduncle (Rufus M. MAJORS) is still standing, and has been restored. I am looking for the grave of Agnes (Gordon) SMITH, wife of Calvin SMITH. I am not sure where it might be. I found out that Calvin Smith married Agnes Gordon, March 12,1841, in Platte county, MO and also that in Goss cemetery, located on the Clay-Platte county line road, new H&H lake north of Smithville is buried Almeda Smith, daughter of Calvin and Agnes Smith, tombstone dates Dec 24, 1842 - Mar. 31, 1847. The person that gave me the cemetery information did not say if the mother was buried there also. Calvin Smith was married in 1843 to Lodica/Dicy Tippets, (third wife?) supposedly in Clay county, MO., so I am guessing that maybe (second wife?) Agnes died in childbirth or shortly after. Since the child was born Dec. 24, 1942, and he remarried in 1843, perhaps he was living near another cemetery at the time of Agnes Smith's death. Calvin and Lodica/Dicy Smith are my gggrandparents. Thanks.

I am researching my gggrandmother Josephine PRETTYWOOD. Her family emigrated from France in the late 1850's and settled in Grand Bay, MO. She was born there on Aug. 28, 1860 and lived there until 1867 when her family moved to Washington. I am unable to locate a town called Grand Bay on a map of Missouri and assumed it was in Clay county or nearby since she told tales of having to hide in the hills when the James Brothers were in town. the family's French name was Boisjolis, but we ahve also seen it spelled Boisjolie. I am not sure when they changed it to Prettywood. I would appreciate any info on records for this town or possible sources of info for this time period in MO. I have not located anything in the census records available at our local library.

My maternal grandparents were both from around the Clay county line. My maternal grandmother is Mary Lena Hightower. Her parents were Simeon Hightower (b. 2/25/1876) and Angie Orilla Crouse (b. 8/2/1878). Simeon's parents were Washington Hightower and Nancy Odel--prior to that I have nothing , and my grandmother is now 90 and a little vague on some info prior to that. Angie Crouse's parents were John Crouse (buried at Old New Garden cemetery) and Catherine Smith--I have nothing prior to that. My paternal grandfather was Ivan J. Archer. He was born in January 1906 in Clay county. His mother was Helen Zelpha Tarwater, daughter of Riley Tarwater(s) and Rachel Summes. My real problem comes with Ivan Archer's paternal lineage. I know his father was John Archer, I believe born in Illinois or Indiana. His father, I think, was James (but not sure and for some time, may have lived in Clay county but we are not sure. I do know that from what my granfather said, both his father and grandfather were somewhat transient at times. I know that John Archer died at the Clay county home, but on the death card at the Clay county archives, they are not sure of his birth date. One indication has 1843 and another reference has 1873. I am leaning toward the 1873 birth year. I do know that in 1915 or 1916, my grandfather's grandmother put him on a trail to Miltondale and sent him to live with his father (they were divorced/separated in approximately 1911-12). She basically got tired of being a mother, and shipped him out. I know that he and his father lived on Fishing River just east of Missouri City. My grandfather died last August and to the date of his death always questioned whether he may have had other brothers or sisters older than he was, because there was some question that his father may have been married before, but his father was a drinker and never relayed much info. Regardless of whether the 1843 or 1873 birth years are correct, or whenever it was, I can see there may have been the time period for other siblings. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a lead to my ggrandfather, George Love and ggrandmother,
Neittie Thomas. At this point no info is available other than they married
between 1890-1897. They had four boys that I know of: George, Baxter, Benny
and William (b. Aug 2, 1898). Many of the Loves living in Excelsior Springs,
Clay county, MO., are descendants of George and Neittie. William Love enlisted
in the Army at St. Louis in May 1917 and married a Texas woman while assigned
to Company "F" 35th Infantry at Camp Travis, San Antonio, Texas in 1918.
