Circuit Court of Butler County March Term 1851

Record of the proceedings of the Circuit Court of Butler County in the State of Missouri at a court began and held at the Court House in the Town of Poplar Bluff on the 14th day of March A.D. 1851.  Present Harrison Hough presiding Judge.

The Sheriff returns the names of the following Persons as Grand Jurors to wit; E. C. Scott, L H Benjamin, William Allison, Samuel M Davis, James M Spain, Minor Steel, Charles S. Graves, Robert Brown, R M Rutherford, B Bledsoe, C B Arnold, William Hill, Allen McAmerry/McElmerry, William __ach, and William Allison.

Who being severally sworn with E. C. Scott their foreman retired to consult of their duties

On motion of the Circuit Attorney William Broach was discarged from serving on the Grand Jury and McJumps? Ray sworn as a member of the Grand Jury

Porter Circuit Attorney appeared and the defendant by his attorney appeared and says he is not guilty of the matters and things as charged against him in the indictment and for trial puts himself upon the county for trial and the Circuit Attorney doth the _____wise whereupon the following Jury to wit; David Gower, Jacob Jonas, G W Young, Francis Whittington, Thomas Honeycutt, D Hillis, Robert Hillis, Wm Sutton, S B Kettrel, Wm Cru__k, J C Hasten, Wm Bledsoe, twelve good and lawful men, elected tried and sworn returned the following verdict

     “We the Jury find the defendant guilty in _____ and form as he stands charged in the indictment and assess his fine, at Ten Dollars, Whereupon it is ordered and adjudged that the said State of Missouri have and record the said Henry C. Bollinger ___ said ___ of _______ fine aforesaid assessed together with cost in this ____ expended
