COCKEY, Thomas | 1676 | 1737 | Son of William & Sarah Cockey / Settled in Limestone Valley in 1725 at Taylor's Hall. He had four children from his relationship with Penelope Deye: Thomas Cockey Deye, Cassandra Cockey Deye, Charlotte Cockey Deye & Charcilla Cockey Deye. |
COCKEY, Joshua Frederick | 06 Jul 1765 | 09 Oct 1821 | Built one of the first homes (The Homestead) in 1797/8 and built the first commercial structure (the hotel) in 1810 that would become the Village of Cockeysville. >His son, Judge Joshua F. Cockey (1800-1891) lived lifelong at The Homestead and built the train station and the accompanying commercial buildings (1830's). The Judge was one of the founders of Sherwood Church (1830). His grandson, Joshua F. Cockey, III (1837-1920) founded the National Bank of Cockeysville (1891) and other commercial ventures in the community.
