Second Schoolhouse in Simpson - 1915
Vernon Parish Louisiana

As more and more students began to attend Simpson School, the old
building was soon
filled to capacity. In 1915 a new two-story building with six
classrooms was constructed.
Residents of the community felt this would be sufficient for many years
to come.
During the first few years at Simpson, pupils walked to school. Later
only those students
who lived within two miles walked, while those who lived farther away
were allowed to
ride in the big wagon. It was long after automobiles had arrived on the
scene when
motorized school buses were used in Simpson.
