The Steamer
Belle Darbonne
This steamboat plied her trade along the waterways of Union Parish, including up Bayou D'Arbonne to the Farmerville Landing and beyond, as well as along the Ouachita River. Here it is seen loaded with bales of cotton. When the photograph was taken, the steamboat was commanded by Captain H. W. Williams. He is in this picture, but we do not know which man was Williams. The Belle D'Arbonne was operating regularly between Farmerville and Monroe in 1894, when they carried a regular advertisement in the Farmerville newspaper.
This photograph was submitted to the Union Parish Louisiana USGenWeb Archives by Glenn Luttrell in June 2006.
