Ela Rebecca Frances Rockett (18 Feb 1882 – 8 May 1923) was born near Spearsville, the daughter of Joseph Cannon Rockett and Rebecca A. Upshaw. Ela's mother died only a few months after her birth, and by July her father had remarried. In the latter 1890s, Ela began seeing Robert Henry Barron (22 May 1879 – 11 July 1953), the son of Henry Callaway Barron (4 Dec 1831 – 21 Jan 1911) and Sophronia Ellen Moses (1845 – 20 Sept 1920). Since Ela's mother was Robert's first cousin, Joe Rockett did not approve of the courtship. To end it, he sent Ela away on an extended visit to relatives in Texas, where his aunt Martha Holcombe Bunch and her family had settled. Joe's ploy failed, however, and Ela and Robert were married on 16 July 1902. Like her mother, Ela died shortly after giving birth. She was buried in the Camp Creek Cemetery.
