Louisa Jane Gee [Lou] (9 Jan 1839 – 30 July 1917) was the daughter of Richard H. Gee (1800/1810 – 27 July 1843) and Mary Caroline Ward (1 Feb 1818 – 15 May 1892). The Gees married in Alabama about 1837 and migrated to Union Parish in 1841. After Richard Gee's premature death in 1843, Mary C. Ward Gee remarried in 1845 to Pinckney Odom (17 Apr 1820 – 4 Dec 1894). For more information on Louisa's parents, read this biography of her mother and step-father.
Lou Gee married on 2 December 1856 in Union Parish to Britton Honeycutt [Brit] (7 Jan 1832 – 13 Feb 1908), the son of early Union Parish settlers John Honeycutt (c1774 – 24 Mar 1857) and Mary Feazel. After their marriage, Lou and Brit lived northeast of Farmerville near her parents. He served in the Confederate Army during the War Between the States, and afterwards, they suffered severe financial hardship as the economic situation across the South became dire. Brit and Lou moved their family to Farmerville, where he went into the mercantile business there. They remained residents of Farmerville through 1900. Brit was buried in the Farmerville Cemetery, and we think Louisa was also, although she has no tombstone there.
