Reuben Searcy Breazeal (25 Feb 1843 – 2 Feb 1917) was the son of Hosea Bright Breazeal and Sarah Elizabeth Mayfield. Reuben was born on his father's farm near Bear Creek, in southeastern Tuscaloosa County Alabama. In 1858 when he was fifteen, he moved with his parents to Caledonia, in Jackson Township, Union County Arkansas. He served in the Confederate Army during the War Between the States, as a private in Company D, 37th Regiment and Company I, 15th Regiment Arkansas Infantry. On 19 July 1866, he married Mary Ann Blanks, the daughter of William Ezekiel Blanks and Temperence Riley. Reuben's parents sold their Arkansas farm in 1866 and moved south to Spearsville, in northwestern Union Parish Louisiana. Reuben and Mary Ann remained in Arkansas, where he farmed. He received a Confederate pension for his service. Reuben and Mary Ann were both buried in the Olive Branch Methodist Cemetery near her parents.
