Union Parish Wards
All 1870 – 1930 Union Parish censuses are subdivided according to the ward numbers. For a detailed explanation of the ward boundaries, see our Ward Designations Page.

1880 Census Page Numbering
The United States Census Bureau began using its Enumeration District (ED) numbering with the 1880 census. The records below are listed in numerical order of the ED numbers rather than ward numbers, just as the original records were ordered. The simplest way to cite a particular page is through the sheet numbers, the stamped numbers on each right-hand page in the original book. The left-hand pages are given designed as "A", with the right-hand pages as "B". Thus, the stamped numbers only appear on the "B" pages. This census runs from sheet number 390B through 532A. However, the last two pages (531B and 532A) were actually the first two pages of the enumeration of Farmerville; as such they actually belong at the very beginning, where we have listed them here.

1850 – 1880 Federal Census Schedules
The United States Federal Censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 were all divided into various parts, called schedules. The regular "census" is technically known as the Population Schedule. Another part was the Mortality Schedule, which gives information on all people who died in the year preceeding the census day, which in those years was June 1, 18x0 (where x=5,6,7,8). Here is a verbatim transcription of all residents of Union Parish whose deaths were reported to the 1880 census enumerator:
