The tables below contain a full-name index to, complete transcriptions of, and images of each original page of the 1820 Ouachita Parish Louisiana Census. Since the Louisiana Legislature formed Union Parish entirely from Ouachita Parish on 13 March 1839, anyone living in this region in 1820 would have been enumerated in Ouachita Parish.
The original 1820 Ouachita Parish Louisiana Census enumeration contains seven sheets of paper. At various times after its completion, these pages were numbered. The result is that every page of this census contains several numbers, both stamped and handwritten.
The easiest method to locate any given individual is through the sheet numbers, the page numbers stamped on the originals. First locate the name in the index, and then find the corresponding sheet number on the transcribed censuses or the images given in the tables below. Each page was divided into two sections, and the "A" sheet numbers in the index indicate that the individual is located on the top half, and the "B" sheet numbers refer to individuals on the bottom half of each page.
