She was born December 10, 1913 in Arnaudville, LA to the late George Edward and Germaine Guidroz Durio and was a resident of Baton Rouge for over 60 years before recently moving to Covington. The beloved wife of the late John Scott Underwood, she is survived by two sons, Fr. Scott J. Underwood and George D. Underwood; her daughter-in-law, Lauren Underwood; one nephew, Deke Dekerleg; her nieces, Mim Duplantier, Emily Moore, Shirley Flenikan, Margie Dale Underwood and several grand neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cecile Durio Dekerlegand. A number of her special friends that deserve mention also survive her: Rev. John Hung Tran, Mr. Philip Blanchard, Mr. Casey Edler, Dr. Lane Gauthier, Mrs. Mary Kanter and the monks of St. Joseph Abbey. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to join in celebrating a memorial mass at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from the church at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Rd. St. Benedict, LA 70457. A time of visitation at the church will begin Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Underwood family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Forest Manor Nursing Home for their dedicated and compassionate care provided to Mrs. Underwood over the past 6 1/2 years.
