Keniery, 89 of Woodlands, TX, formerly of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital, Houston, TX on Thursday January 27, 2011. He was the beloved son of Anna (Powers) and Dennis J. Keniery. Howard was born in Harrison, NJ and grew up there. He graduated from St. Mary's H.S., Rutherford, NJ in 1938. He served as a Corporal in the US Army in the European Theatre from 1942-1945 when he was honorably discharged. Mr. Keniery worked in the shipping transportation industry for most of his life. He worked for Universal Transport, NY, NY for over 30 years. In 1960 he was sent to New Orleans, LA to start up Universal's Gulf Coast Office where he remained as Gulf Coast Operations Manager until his retirement in 1986. Howard enjoyed painting, exercise, travel and reading. He was always up on the business and politics of the day. He was the dear brother of the late Mary McHale, Anne Martins, Francis Daley and Edward Keniery. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11 AM on Friday February 4, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home at 2260 W.21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens will follow the mass. ===================
