Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2011/st1101.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Virginia Nock Aitkens, our beloved Aunt Dinny, died peacefully in the evening on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Christwood in Covington, LA. Born on March 30, 1916 to Stephanie Mickle Nock and Robert J. Nock of New Orleans, she was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. She was the sister of the late Stephanie N. Feehan and the late Harriet N. Larsen Collins. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth N. Bandelier and her husband Kenneth, of Tulsa, OK. In January of 1992, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren R. Aitkens. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. These were her "children" and she showered them with her love unconditionally. Her 94 years of life centered on her family, friends and her faith. She started her career with Exxon/Mobil when it was Humble Oil Company, retiring after almost 50 years of service. She traveled to Europe, Cuba, South America, Mexico and parts of the United States. After retiring, she volunteered at St. Tammany Hospital and "Meals on Wheels". She was a parishioner at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Saturday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to "Pennies for Bread" at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, Covington, LA 70433 or the Carmelite Cloistered Nuns, 73530 River Road, Covington, LA 70433. ===================
