Adler was born April 7, 1948 in Westfalen, Germany and arrived in the United States in May of 1957, traveling from Hamelin, Germany. The family settled in New Orleans, where Uwe graduated from Alcee Fortier High School and attended several semesters at Tulane University School of Architecture. He started a construction business in 1968 and specialized in the renovation of historic buildings, which was his passion. Uwe loved being a "weekend cowboy" at the Y O Ranch in Texas, where he rallied and helped direct "The Biggest Party in Texas" for 28 years, along with some very close friends. His love of life and interest in the lives of others was one of his most outstanding characteristics, and he wished to thank everyone he enjoyed and shared his time with, and advised to "live life, don't have it live you." He was always there for his family and friends, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Uwe was an extraordinary and unique individual, who never knew a stranger or an enemy. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbie Greeley Adler, the joy of his life; two sons, Greeley and Kurt Adler and faithful dog, Oscar Lee, all of Mandeville. He is also survived by his sisters, Christa Batiansila of Green Bay, Wisc., Rotraud (Karin) Alverson (Mac) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Margit Wingfield of Ocean Springs, Miss., and sister-in-law Kay Greeley LeGros of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Albert Adler, and mother, Erna Stasch Adler. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Uwe's life at noon Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Pontchartrain Yacht Club, 1501 Lakeshore Dr., Mandeville. His final resting place will be his beloved Y O Ranch, in Mountain Home, Texas. Happy trails, Uwe! Contributions to "Green Project", 2831 Marais St., New Orleans, La. 70117 are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Bagnell & Son Funeral Home of Covington. ===================
