Officiating the service will be Dr. Wayne Evans. Mr. Hyatt was born October 1, 1924 and passed away April 7, 2009. Mr. Hyatt was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston. He was an engineer, news caster, and disc jockey at KAPK Radio in Minden, LA from 1953 to 1960. He retired after 42 years with Illinois Central Railroad as a depot agent. Mr. Hyatt was the 1987 USDR World Champion Squirrel Hunter in Kosciusko, MS. He obtained a patent for a small game skinner in 1990 and also was a CW Ham Operator. Mr. Hyatt was an avid outdoorsman, camper, and traveler with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Amelia Hyatt: daughters: Patricia Moncrief and husband Robert of Ruston, LA; Mary Tekell and husband Richard of Tyler, TX; and Christine Chirico of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren: Malia M. Wollerson, Meredith L. Moncrief, Daune W. Hyams, Janelle W. Davenport, Carlos Guevara and Joseph Chirico; and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the Christian Life Center at Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, The Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of choice.
