Local lore reveals that at one time some Fields boys stole and broke up several of the markers and tried to sell them as scrap marble. When they were caught, they were made to return the broken markers that they still had possession of. The current condition of the cemetery is less than ideal with markers scattered from their original position. Heavy leaf fall has buried several markers which had to be dug out and has also probably contributed to their deteriorated state. There is evidence of several unmarked graves, as well as graves marked only with native red rocks. The presence of some fairly new markers suggests that someone may know more information about the persons buried here, and that they may tend to the cemetery from time to time. Local lore also reveals that perhaps some of these Trussell's owned/operated the Old Trussell Store that was located at the intersection of Hwy 563 and Hwy 544.
