This is a picture of my dad Sam Breeding down in a hole building a form so that concrete
could be poured over a cluster of pilling that had been driven (pilling were long
telephone type polls 60 feet long or longer)
This is just one of many such holes that support the weight of the Iberia Court House.
Taken about 1938.
Graver & Harper were general contractors .
My older brother Luel L Breeding was building suppressant.
Court House is a five story building, built of solid concrete
with the Jail located on top floor.
I have forgotten most of the details but do remember there were railroad
tracks located on both east and west sides running north and south. Also some
huge oak trees.
This was at least 63 years ago so I feel sure many changes may have been made to the
rail system and streets but don't think many changes would have been made to the
building, It will probably never be changed very much because it being solid concrete.
They even built a rail siding on to the property to deliver car loads
of sand, gravel , and cement and all the mixing was with a small gasoline driven
mixer.
