Homer High School

1914 - 1948

This building served as Homer High School from 1914 - 1927, then as Homer Elementary from 1927- 1948. It was considered "a magnificent temple on College Hill" located at the site of the present Jaycee Park. The Homer Male College, which was built on this same site in 1856, became the first public high school in 1900 and was torn down in 1914 to construct this new school. In 1927 the present high school was built and this building became the elementary school. It was torn down in 1948 after the new elementary school was completed.
